Melasma & Pigmentation Treatment Procedure: Step by Step from Consultation to Going Home

Melasma & Pigmentation Treatment follows consultation and skin assessment, cleansing and anaesthesia (usually not needed (numbing cream if needed)), the treatment itself (about 15–30 minutes), then calming care and aftercare instructions.

Step-by-step

  1. Consultation: Dr. Lee Da-in reviews your concerns (melasma, freckles and spots), medical history, medications and past treatments.
  2. Treatment plan: areas (full face, cheekbones, forehead), intensity or dose, and the expected course are explained.
  3. Preparation: cleansing, then anaesthesia — usually not needed (numbing cream if needed).
  4. Treatment: performed with PicoLite Black and Clarity II, taking about 15–30 minutes.
  5. Calming and going home: soothing care if needed and aftercare instructions. Downtime: minimal for toning; tiny scabs for a few days after higher-energy spot treatment.

How it works

Melasma and spots are excess or deposited melanin. A picosecond laser (PicoLite Black) breaks pigment into fine particles with ultra-short pulses, and Clarity II uses two wavelengths to reach pigment at different depths. Melasma reacts to irritation, so low-energy repeated sessions are usual.
